Introducing Our Recently Appointed Content Creator, Ruby Herrmann!

My name is Ruby I’m a proud Lama Lama woman from Coen, QLD (up in the Cape York Peninsula) but grew up in foster-care here in Melbourne from a very young age.

I’m an artist, online known as @lifeofrubii (now changed to @rubiiredart) and I occasionally stream myself playing video games over on the streaming platform – Twitch. I started streaming back in 2019, but I’ve been playing video games from a very young age. I love gaming and through it I connected with other Mob and became friends with so many like-minded Mob through the gaming community. Three of my friends and I came together to create a First Nations online collective called BlakoutGG. We wanted to build a safe space for Mob who played games or who streamed, organising monthly community games with all the Mob. We built an online community where we focused on bringing Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander people around the country together. I hope to see BlakoutGG grow further and continue to do our community games and more in the future.

On top of gaming and art, I also finished my Certificate 4 in Community Services through V.A.C.S.A.L as working in community has been something I have wanted to do for a while now. I aim to support and uplift my community, especially kids and young people. I would love to support young creatives, to help them in their craft and to build their skills up so that they can aim for their goals.
